In this course, students explore a wide variety of music therapy models, methods, and techniques, and the theoretical foundations that underlie them, at an advanced level. Students are introduced to approaches, practices, and trends within contemporary music therapy research and also learn and practice verbal counselling techniques. Building upon prior coursework, this course reviews and expands upon foundational ethical and anti-oppressive principles as they apply to practice and research. Students articulate their own personal philosophies and approaches to music therapy, preparing them for internship and professional practice. Prerequisites: Year 4 standing in the music therapy program.
